Diaphragmatic breathing benefits | Heartburn relief - Zemaflux

Zemaflux takes the guesswork out of LES breathing exercises and delivers a user-friendly method of resistance training configured just for strengthening sphincter muscles.

The following extracts are taken from a small sample of clinical studies investigating diaphragmatic breathing techniques and their ability to reduce reflux events. Zemaflux makes diaphragmatic breathing easier and more effective by controlling air pressure, volume and velocity.

Diaphragmatic breathing benefits
This study provides valuable insights into the potential therapeutic benefits of diaphragmatic breathing

The findings demonstrate that DB, particularly during the inspiratory phase, significantly enhances LES pressure, creating a favorable environment that reduces the number of postprandial reflux events in both patients and controls.

The observed reduction in esophageal acid exposure after a standardized meal on day 2 further underscores the promising impact of DB on acid reflux.

Breathing exercises demonstrated effectiveness in reducing GERD symptoms, acid suppression

This meta-analysis provides evidence supporting the beneficial effects of breathing exercises in alleviating symptoms and improving outcomes in patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD).

This underscores the potential of breathing exercises as a valuable adjunctive therapy for GERD, providing an alternative or complementary approach to conventional drug treatments.

Zemaflux
Effectiveness of belly breathing in GERD patients.

In 2023, a clinical study was conducted to examine belly breathing in controlling gerd in 100 patients. the questionnaire was used to measure GERD symptoms.

It was noticed that patients had seen a reduction in symptoms of gerd frequencies in 2-4 months from 26.64 to 17.61. 72% of patients were satisfied after post-intervention of GERD-affected quality of life. therefore, belly breathing has proven to be a better strategy to control GERD without using antacid drugs.

Diaphragmatic breathing exhibited a significant improvement in lower esophageal sphincter (LES) pressure

This study sheds light on the potential benefits of diaphragmatic breathing (DB) and aerobic exercise (AE) as adjunctive interventions for patients with moderate to severe gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)

The findings provide a foundation for personalized therapeutic strategies, empowering healthcare providers to cater to the diverse needs of GERD patients, ultimately contributing to a more comprehensive and patient-centered care paradigm.

Diaphragmatic breathing therapy significantly alleviated GERD symptoms

This was evidenced by a substantial reduction in reflux disease questionnaire scores

Importantly, these positive outcomes were sustained at the 4-month follow-up, highlighting the durability of diaphragmatic breathing’s therapeutic effects. As a well-tolerated and accessible intervention, diaphragmatic breathing holds promise for improving the overall well-being of GERD patients
